The Greater Bay Area in the Eyes of Foreign Envoys: Tech Enterprises Unleash Appeal for International Cooperation

GUANGZHOU, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) — On January 17, the "Diplomats Watch China · Guangdong Tour" event visited Foshan, Guangdong Province.

Diplomatic envoys and diplomats from nearly 40 countries, including Germany, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Mongolia, the Republic of Korea, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, visited enterprises such as NATIONSTAR to conduct in-depth research on the scientific and technological innovation capabilities of companies in the Greater Bay Area.

At NATIONSTAR, foreign envoys marveled at the wide-ranging applications of the tiny LED chips created by "Greater Bay Area Intelligent Manufacturing".

After the visit, Andrey Tihov, Ambassador of Bulgaria to China, said he was most impressed by the progress the company has made in recent years and the extremely broad application scope of its products.

Tuvshin Badral, Ambassador of Mongolia to China, also noted that over the past five decades, NATIONSTAR has evolved from a basic enterprise into a world-class company, adding that many people around the globe may now be using its products.

The company’s outstanding technological strength drew high praise from the diplomatic envoys.

"What impressed me most was how enterprises like NATIONSTAR apply technology and integrate chips into the production of various LED-based tech products," said Ma Yan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Grenada to China.

After learning about its development history, Peter Lizak, Ambassador of Slovakia to China, also stated that the company exemplifies high-level science and technology.

As a national high-tech enterprise, NATIONSTAR adheres to a strategy of technological innovation.

To date, the company has established 14 research platforms at or above provincial and ministerial level, including a Postdoctoral Research Station and the National-Local Joint Engineering Laboratory for Semiconductor Lighting Materials and Devices.

It has undertaken more than 30 national-level research projects such as the National Key R&D Program and the 863 Program, as well as over 100 provincial, ministerial and municipal projects.

A number of high-tech products have been successfully applied in major events and venues including the opening ceremony of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, the military parade marking the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the Boao Forum for Asia, and Beijing Daxing International Airport.

Through visits to key enterprises and institutions, diplomatic envoys from many countries have turned their attention to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area as a hotbed of technological innovation, with the aim of building platforms for economic exchange and cooperation between China and the rest of the world.

Although it was his first visit to the Greater Bay Area, Bulgarian Ambassador Tihov said he would return:

“There are so many interesting things here. It is very helpful and has given us many ideas for cooperation.”

Slovak Ambassador Peter Lizak stated:

“Slovakia and China enjoy a long-standing cooperative relationship, and this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between our two countries. This visit serves as an excellent opportunity to prepare for more cooperative projects.”

Grenadian Ambassador Ma Yan noted:

“I am confident that we have many areas to cooperate with China, not only in trade, but also in production capacity development and skills sharing.”
