Recently, Chancheng Convergence Media Center’s series report Renewal Stories of Chancheng Enterprises visited NATIONSTAR to experience the company’s new LED display products and explore the new quality productivity hidden in these small devices.

1. Look: This is what NATIONSTAR's MIP devices look like

The picture shows NATIONSTAR's mass-producible smallest device, the MIP0404, with an overall size of just 0.43×0.43 mm — slightly smaller than the tip of a regular ballpoint pen.Thanks to NATIONSTAR’s ultra-thin packaging technology, the module thickness can be as thin as 230 micrometers.

NATIONSTAR’s new MIP series features high brightness, high contrast, low power consumption, and strong compatibility, covering pixel pitches from P0.6 to P1.2.It meets ultra-high-definition display demands for scenarios such as video conferencing, exhibition advertising, virtual reality, and monitoring & dispatch.

2. Q: How are MIP devices packaged?

In the field of small-pitch direct-view LED displays, MIP (Mini/Micro LED in Package) is manufactured using an all flip-chip process. It requires no wire bonding; instead, Mini/Micro LED chips are combined with high-precision carriers for chip-level packaging, then diced into single-pixel or multi-pixel devices (i.e., large-area display panels are separately packaged).This greatly improves yield control even at smaller device sizes.

After these steps, the products undergo binning and color mixing, which directly screens out defective units, effectively reducing testing difficulty and cost. Finally, the products are packaged and delivered to downstream manufacturers for SMT assembly (with optional screen surface lamination), completing the display production.

3. Discussion: New Quality Productivity Hidden in Tiny Devices

As LED displays enter the era of ultra-high-definition with micro-pitch and high refresh rates, MIP — with its excellent performance, superior display quality, and low overall cost — has become one of the most watched packaging technologies in the small-pitch direct-view LED sector.
